I'm having problems with my front wheel disc brake...

My bike has a Tektro disc brake system. The front rotor is rubbing against the break pad. I've tried to adjusting the screws to make a gap between the rotor and the pad. By adjusting one screw on the drive side I can create a gap and that is fine, however, the other side is rubbing and by adjusting the screw I cannot create a gap big enough before the pad housing is loose.
Maybe I need truing the wheel or perhaps the rotor is slightly bend - I'm used to truing the wheels on my road bike by using the brake pads as reference but that job is much harder with disc brakes.
I have been looking for a web page or a youtube video on how to service disc brakes but I cannot find anything.
Should I keep trying to find a way of fixing it or just take it to my LBS?

undo the 2 bolts holding the caliper on. hold the brake down and tighten them up. then let go of the lever. Then sort out the adjustment on the caliper depending on whether you can see light either side of the pad and if it rubs. once youve done it once or twice its piss.
Unless youve got tektro iox (not io's, theyre cool) as theyre are a genuine bag of shite.0 -
Thanks, I will try that.
