warrantied up to 130mm max will work best at the 100mm setting so i hope you are going for the U-turn version. (coil or air) but you do not sat which of the 3 versions of the 454 you are looking at.

Nick the 456 is warrantied up to 6" so a Pike is perfect. A mate of mine has a 456 with a Pike air and it makes for a rufty tufty hardtail.

The name 456 came from the premise that you could put a 4", 5" or 6" fork on it (although in my book that means it's designed around a 5" and will tolerate the others)

  • This should be a great combo - Its one I considered before going for the Crush.

And yes the name 456 means a 4, 5, or 6inch fork can be fitted. Clever huh!?

  • Five does fit nicely inbetween....Although going for 6 may suit more 'hardcore' riders that are more 'down' orientated...

And of course a 454 is a U-turn (don't think they are bringing the fixed length Pikes in this year) so you can find the ultimate sweet spot with a bit more in reserve for the occasions that require it.

  • yeah it is the u-turn one, sounds like the reassurance i needed to spend more than i can afford! :D:D:D
  • It looks very nice but a bit thin? The fork dwarfs the frame. I'm glad I went for the Crush option, not that I think its a bad choice but just not for me.

The fork is a must have, consider yourself re-assured!

  • I've got 454 to go on my on-one, it is being faced and having cups pressed as we speak.
