Hi

I have recently powder coated my Carrera Krecken frame and the coaters have misplaced the headset cups. I now face the task of trying to find new ones to replace these. I know they might be specific to the frame as they are slightly wider than standard integrated cups. Can you help me obtain a similar replacement?

I'm at your mercy.

Thanks

it depends on the age of the frame.

Strangely enough Halfords can get them for you.
  • Hi

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. The bike is the old 7005 box tube frame.

I've tried a standard integrated headset (42mm) a friend gave me and it has some play sitting in the cups with the depth being too short.

I checked the Park Tools website and after measuring the ID of 44mm (43.9mm Park Tool) and OD of 46mm, think I require a Microtech headset. I remember the one originaly fitted was pressed in to the fame as it didn't split like previos headets I've used (bearings must have been sealed inside). This was the reason the coater removed it. I'll try Halfords as it's their own brand to see what they can do, failing that I'm on a quest to find one.

Thanks to you both for your help and I'll keep you posted on how it goes.

if it is 44mm then it is a zero stack headset not an integrated one.
