almost certainly seeing as you (i assume) are not a professional painter...0

what dose being a professional painter have to do with paint rubing off or not0

preparation and type of paint."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

if yo prpe them properly with a good strong degreaser and make sure they are very clean and rub them back so that the primer can key properly, then take your time with the painting, remembering that lots of thin coats are better than one thick! and leave them to harden off prior to laquering then there is no reason why the paint will chip off straight away! obviously on the teeth on the rings it wont last but shouldnt have a problem else where!Timmo.

sounds about right, although i would be tempted to put 4-5 coats on in the same manor as you have done so that you get a good coverage of the colour,
as mentioned up a few, its all about the prep! get that right and you'll be fine!Timmo.
