  • i havnt been into biking long and i dont know an awful lot but one thing i do know is mudguards are the bigest mistake to make i bought a pair when i first started but every week i spend ages ajusting the them during rides and all they would do is get my bike dirty so i just dicided to smash em' off one ride and stuff the pecies in my bag so if you want addvice get muddy its great fun! and no in-ride hasal! :P
  • also i thought id add that if your gonna be a wimpish tart on the trails why dont you go by your self a nice road bike and pedal round a safe city all day and stay clean or ..... you can be a proper rider and enjoy the taste of mud and cold water any way it saves weight coz u dont need a bottle of water coz your get free water from the trail ! :D :P

I've made a decision today that I'm definately going to get mud guards.

Ok they look daft, but I get laughed at by pedestrians for having mud on my face anyway so with mud guards I'd get laughed at but atleast my face would be clean!

Two of yesterdays maddest, drop flying, jump crunching nutters on our group ride has mudguards on.
Your bike gets clogged with mud - mud guards allow you to slow this clogging down.

Wimpish tart indeed - suggest you try surfing double overhead waves in February...

I have an adapted Topeak Defender FX on my fork, adapted beacuse I have cut the front bit off the guard, as it doesn't fit on Rock Shox forks, and I only need to worry about the bits being flicked up into my face. Unclips easily too so if you don't need it...
