Chorus V SRAM Red

I was going down the Chrous groupset route for a new build but with a special deal on the SRAM Red, it means that it is on at an attractive price. I hadn't really considered SRAM before, is it so different to use the 'Double Tap' system that I should be wary of it (I've only ever used Campag)? I believe the quality with either set will be comparable so its really just the 'useability' factor which concerns me. Any opinions on this.

Cheers

  • Try the SRAM Red - if you an get it for the same price as Chorus and do not like it, you can always put the bits on ebay and buy a Record Group!

What do you have to loose?

Isn't SRAM Red supposed to be a "higher" groupset than Campag Record? + IT looks really nice with the stickers, and is hugely light.

The system wouldn't have been put through R & D if it wasn't easy to use eventually, might just take some time to get used to it. These companies can't afford to risk putting a product through which isn't going to work for most the population

It's probably about equal to Record, unless you are looking at how much it costs! I think the stickers are pretty ugly, but each to his own. The brakes are cool :) Record 08 is under 2000g too, not that that really matters much either...

I'd get a test ride on a SRAM equipped bike before parting with any cash. Some love the double-tap system, but many others including magazine testers have slated it.

I have SRAM force. Dont what there is to dislike about it. It's just like shimano, except you use 1 lever instead of 2. Dont get the untidy cables at the front either.

    Give it a go...!
