Work Load This Week..

I've just realised I've done pretty much nothing at work this week - and no-one seems to have noticed. Sure, a few piles of paper have moved from one end of my desk to the other but I've not paid any attention to them. I have literally drank coffee and surfed the internet (uncovering some fascinating facts about badgers in the process - fastest digging animals in the world..) for five days.

Anyone else had it easy this week?

  • Yes, I've had a similarly easy week this week, done nothing much except attend 2 meetings of an hour each, so much so that I'm thinking of going home now and it's only 3.20pm, to be honest I don't think anyone would notice.

I spent most of today sitting in front of a Rotating Anode, doing high temperature X-ray diffractions of some dodgy clay. All that required was a couple of button clips every 10 mins or so, you say could my workload wasn't high. I couldn't really get on with anything else as you can't leave these archaic bits of equipment to look after themselves.

Unfortunately I'd done something to prevent me logging into my work laptop meaning I was without Bikeradar and my music for the duration of most of the day.

Yeah, I'd rather be busy too.

Flew to Finland on Sunday, spent Monday and Tuesday working with some guys at Nokia (12 hour days!). Flew home over Wednesday, then picked up the leftover work on Thursday/Friday.

Also managed two spinning classes back here, but was gutted to have not noticed the hotel I'd stayed at was attached to a smart gym which also ran spinning classes, until the last evening:-( Especially with the quality of the young ladies going through their doors:-) Next time!

BTW I don't really have a jetset lifestyle, just happened that way this week.

    Cheers,
    G

I've done bugger all this week.

Monday: Worked for a few hours in the morning then realised that I was coming down with a head cold, so I chucked it.

Tuesday: Moped about, achieving sod all.

Wednesday: Had pencilled in doing 100km for the Metric Century a Month Challenge, but decide against it with the cold. That's it knackered for this year. Weather was perfect as well. Instead, watched a few films, surfed for stuff on the web, played a couple of games on-line, did a little reading.

Thursday: 07.30 - Got a text saying that my last work had (probably) gone bust.

Je suis allé á ma course français. Was complimented on my pronunciation (probably due to the blocked nose :? ).

13.30 Another series of texts, about the old work, as rumour / gossip comes in. It's not looking good (for them). Abandon all thoughts of going to work and instead send out some phishing e-mails to try and get some concrete info.

17.30 Text saying that it's (99%) definite - they've gone bust! Dance round the room, occassionally leaping into the air, clicking my heels and punching the air shouting, "Yeess!!!" The details are a bit sketchy, but who cares? The b@st@rds made my life a misery for close to 10 years!

Friday: Receive an e-mail; the receivers are in!!! Yaaaaaay!

I've had a brilliant week, I have!

  • yeah its been a little quiet in the studio but its cool as its given me a chance to implement some house design stuff thats needed doing. The work has been coming in in drips and drabs but everythings out with clients waiting feedback. Its that time of the year when its just started up but the end of tax year is coming up so clients are trying to spend budget but not over spend it.

Still the air is clear and sun up is now 6.30! Spring is in the air and quiet work means more time for riding - which is nice.

well i've made i've just made 10800 litres of alcohol which goes into the making of The Glenlivet whisky. Not bad considering that all transport in the area has ground to a halt with the recent snow fall.
  • do you work for glenlivet or the brewery?

don't know the marketing manager do you? In need of some new packaging per chance?

I was made redundant at the end of December...but I had been telecommuting from the south of France. I'm still here as I am planning to see out 12 months to the end of July. Basically taking a year out from London.

Last couple of weeks have been very busy - painting the bathroom and the two bedrooms, riding the bike (some great roads and mostly great weather, but damp today) and playing the guitar (even taking some lessons and buying a new amplifier).

So, no paid work, but a lot less stressed than before.

Well Essay no.1 is asking whether or not Imperial support for christianity was responsible for the spread of christianity in the 4th Century.

So all about Constantine the great, which is nice because here In york was here was appointed Emperor when his father died (and theres a statue of him near the minster).

And Essay no.2 is asking if the reformation started out as primarily a political movement rather than religious.

So lots of ecclesiastical history there but I find it interesting :)

Almost finished essay number 1 having spent all day typing away :)
