Last night (Thurs):
1. Cycled through a gale in the London leg of the commute
2. Whilst cycling through gale, Shwalbe's finest Marathon Plus tractor tyre (newly pumped up to proper PSI) starts dragging 'cos wheel had slipped/been knocked by the silly cow who parks her "classic" new US style cruiser PoS next to my old jalopy
3. At other end, no gale (hooray!) so to make up for it I instantly rode over a 45 foot long nail, 2 seconds after leaving the station. Cue 25 minute walk pushing bike in freezing cold
4. Attempted to fix p**cture, only to find the goo in tube is not only still p1ssing out, but has semi-set and made the hole bigger
5. Threw away tube
6. Fitted only spare tube, which is an old 27" job that I have lying around from 10 years ago (fingers crossed it holds out)
7. Went inside from freezing garage and had nervous breakdown.

So now in your tailpack/rucksack/panniers you'll be keeping a couple of spare tubes in the right size?0

 I hadn't thought of that
Am just off to Condor to be patronised and to buy some new tubes...to replace the 3 that I bought the other month, prior to running over 45foot long nails, etc...
No point in carrying them on bike, as my post suggests, neither commute is long enough to make it worth fixing en-route: I may as well walk to destination and fix at my leisure.
