Hey folks,
Been riding for a few yrs now & im really starting to get serious riding minimum 80 miles a wk, Ive gone up from 06 GT Avalanche 2 (stolen last yr) got a Claude Butler Pagan D2 to replace it (ok but not as good as GT bikes) a little heavier & not as stretched i felt on the old 06 GT......
BUT...
Ive just ordered my new baby, GT Avalanche Expert & as the header says i depserately need a helmet for that inevitable crunch & for the urban protection.... Ive tried a few on & they all seem to squash my head on the sides, i can feel it even as a try on so after a few miles it will bug me & i know i'll go without it....
Ive measured my head & its 59.5cm so i think 60-62 for comfort & the ability to get a warmer on for is what im looking for.....i would appreciate ANY links, product ideas or help to find that "fat head helmet" !!
Thanks in advance....

My head circumference is 62cm so as you can imagine I have some problems getting a helmet that fitted me without cutting off blood supply.
After looking around at difference manufacturers (this is a must as they all differ) I opeted for a Giro Xen (XL) - pricey but an excellent lid - feels great on and doesn't look too much like a roadies lid0 -
I'd reccomend a giro helmet as well (I think I have an indicator) and its quite a wide helmet so fits my head fairly well.
I've found spesh helmets to be terrible for larger heads for the ones that I've tried.0 -
I too have a big head and find that Giro ones offer the best fit, nothing else seemed to fit right. I went for the mid priced Havoc when I replaced mine recently.0

Just to offer a cheaper alternative to the xen. My head is a whopping 63cm. The only helmet I found to fit was the Bell Triton. I got mine for about 25 quid.
It will not be as good as the xen, and it does get a bit warm sometimes but as far as the fit goes it is comfy enough for me to wear all day and doesn't move about once its on. So if you are on a budget it would be worth looking at, if money isn't an issue then go for a xen.0 -
I not only have a large sized head but also an annoying squared off bit on my forehead due to forceps @ birth and hte large Giro Havoc fits nicely and very comfortably0

Weirdest thing guys....
thanks for all the ideas, i had a look at them online & after wheelbuckler mentioned the bell triton & that im on a bit of budget due to have op on spine in march so not at work right now......
So, i get back from a ride today & think....ill just nip over (50yds) to my shop "woodston cycles" & see if my fella can see about getting me the bell to try on & see if its any good.....
no sooner ive walked in he pulls this box up from the back of the counter.......
BELL TRITON.........eeeerie
