Best bike for 1000 pounds

Hi guys, im just coming back to mountain biking after a good 10 years. Decided to get back into it with the cycle to work scheme and all. Anyway, ive got a grand to spend and this is where ill be getting it from- http://www.ukbikesdepot.com/index.php (itll be the shop but its the same as online im told).

Not sure if i should go back and front suspension or just front. Ill just be using it in my local woods and that sort of thing.

You get a much better spec of hardtail (front suss) compared to a full suss of the same price.

You are quite limited by what that shop has to stock, I'd look at the Marin hardtails out of what you have to choose from.

Rocky Ridge is a bit porkier than the Nail Trail and Kili, but longer fork and burlier build.

Don't go full sus for £1000. Go steel hard tail and have some FUN. Best bargain for £1000 currently is Merlin's Rock Lobster with Reynolds 853 tubing - full XT groupset comes stock - hand build Mavic wheels - upgrade to the Reba Team fork and black wheels.
