First Crash, Broken Mech & A New Bike. Quite A Day Reall

Went out for a quick blast around my local woods yesterday afternoon and had my first proper crash, basically my enthusiasm : skill ratio was in a state of inbalance and I ended up going head first into some brambles
Then my rear mech decided that enough was enough and that broke, managed to fix it, picked a high gear and rode home. Not my day I guess I was starting to think that maybe the £130 Shockwave bike I bought in a hurry over Christmas was not really up to what I wanted to do, seeing as how both wheels are slightly buckled and the brakes don't work that well. So a new bike was required. One trip to my LBS later, a bit of a haggle and I am now the proud owner of a 2008 Kona Hoss. Unfortunately I am going to have to wait til next Sunday to ride it due to work
So quite a day really, just wanted to share.

Moral of the story = something about false-economies
but at least you had a good excuse to upgrade to a decent bike :P0 -

At least a Hoss will work how it should. Everything on it will be far superior to what was on the shockwave. Should be a massive improvement when you get to ride it!0

I done the same, cheap bike off ebay, twice at glentress wrecked it
Now got a diamondback 8)0 -
I have had a hoss (2005) since 2006 and i love it, i am quite a big bloke and really do take out frustrations on my bike so it doesnt get an easy life. Mainly ride woods, canals and fields.
Apart from the odd broken spoke the worst i have done to is is land on my brake leaver requireing a new piston kit, it's a pretty tough bike so suits me.0 -
Cheers for the info LATEUK gonna get to ride it this Sunday now, really looking forward to it.0
