Cotic Roadrat

Is anyone on the forum riding a Roadrat? I am thinking about investing in one. I love the look of the bike and its flexibility really appeals. I am undeceded on going for the single speed or getting some gears but one of the things I like is the the frame lets me do either just as well. Single speed would be ok on my commute from Clapham to the West end in London but I can imagine a lap of Richmond park with a single speed would be more than a little challenging on the legs. Maybe I just need to get fitter!
I would welcome any views on the bike from people who have one. Pro's & Con's etc.
Thanks in advance.

I have one, purchased a frame and built it as a fixed for commuting, had it for 8 months and done about 3k miles with no problems.
I’m very happy with mine, and don’t think I can add anything new on the reviews that one can find on the tinternet.0 -
My missus has had one for the last couple of years. Runs SS, loves it.
Pros - fantastic fast handling, comfy ride, do-anything build options, good finish & paint.
Cons - only one I've found so far is that trackends + full guards make getting the back wheel out a PITA
Hills are fine on SS/fixed you can get up a lot more than you think you will.0 -
A friend of mine has one and uses it for a daily commute into London. He loves it, and I am very jealous of it. It seems extraordinarily flexible. Though I wouldn't ride a SS myself (too lazy) he doesn't have any problems with it. He hasn't mentioned any cons so far (after three months).0

GEPC - how tall are you?
If you're within spitting distance of a small, you're welcome to try herself's bike.

That's really kind of you (and your good lady). I am 5'11" so probaby would be looking at the medium or large frame. However having e-mailed the guys at Cotic I have just discovered that Brixton Cycles is a Cotic dealer and the stock the finished builds so all being well I am going to see if I can manage a test ride on saturday.
Thanks for the offer though. Really appreciated.0 -
I got a RoadRat complete buld from Brixton Bikes just before Christmas and its been a great bike so far. First foray into single speed and not had any problems in and around London. I've taken it for a lap around Richmond park where it manages fine and gives the legs a good work out.
Cotic have just announced a new cheaper complete build thats coming out in some time in Feb so may be worth holding on till that one is out.0 -
I got one early last year after taking up Jon's kind offer of test riding the one his missus owns.
I'm sticking with the singlespeed to see if I improve on fitness but it can be hard work sometimes.
It's sucha lovely bike, my only fear is someone pinching it, so I try and take it indoors whenever I can!0
