Choices, which bike???

Hello,
I am currently searching a new bike. I am looking at somthing which is suitable for free ride but that i might be able to ride up hill. The bikes i am currently looking at would be a Scott Ransom 40 or a Trek Session 7. I am not sure which of these bikes would be best suite my needs. My local riding spots are Hamsterly forest and Glestrees, i do free-ride and resonably difficult downhill. I need a bike which wont break but i am willing to repair
and put in some effort to take care of it. Any reviews or comments on those bikes would be much aprechiated or any surgestions of different bikes would be great. My budget is around £1,200-£1,300. Both of those bikes are currently on sale in that margin, thanks!!
