Any one got any recommendations for overshoes suitable for XC?

I was just about to hit the 'buy' button for a pair of Endura MT500's when I read the review on the CRC site - 'it slated them'.

I'm currently just wearing my normal Northwave Lizzard shoes which aren't waterproof, am I just better off getting waterproof socks?

Sealskinz socks are superb, and a lot cheaper than a new pair of shoes!

Sealskinz socks will protect you from mud, rain and the odd small stream crossing. But wont survive a footdown in water, or constant saturation.

    But then would overshoes?

The Endura MT500 scored 10/10 in the MBR review.

I have used these all this winter and they are the best overshoe I have used. The material is like a wetsuit material and keeps the water out and heat in, have them on all day on a weekend ride even if no sign of rain as they keep your feet warm.

At first I thought a little expensive at £25 as you can get shoes for not much more than this but would say they are one of my best buys from last year.

Another vote for the sealskinz socks. As long as you don't go in over the top of them they're great!

One fine day in the middle of the night, two dead men got up to fight. Back to back they faced each other, drew their swords and shot each other.

Cheers guys looks like sealskinz come out on top - any suggestions as to which type, I notice there is a choice?

    :D

Omegas' I saw the MBR review too which influenced me to purchase but there's a number of reviews on CRC where people have had problems with the zip and complaining of a short lifespan - glad to hear you haven't had the problems too but I don't feel like taking the risk.

I've got the SealSkinz Mid Thermal Merino Waterproof Socks for winter and Mid Light Waterproof Socks for milder weather.
