QR seat clamp

I have just bought a Hope QR seat clamp size 34.9mm. I was told that this was the correct one for my session 10.
However when I tried to fit it onto the bike it seems just slightly too small.
The next size up is the 36.4mm one.
Do you need to open them out to fit or does anybody know what size i should fit.
Any help would be great.
Eagles may fly high but Weasels dont get sucked into jet engines.

    So you have your old seat clamp? any marking on the bottom of it? have you measured the seat tube?

    Yea i have the old one and even took it to the shop with me. Not mesured the seatpost yet but will do asap. The walls of the seat tube seem very thick compaared to say my enduro.
