bansko are looking to start mountain biking but not downhill as yet, could happen eventually.
  • There are a couple of downhill trails at Dobrinishtay, the village next to Bansko. You can use a chairlift there to access the two DH trails in the ski area.

There are 3 marked sort of downhil/crosscountry trails from the lift. One called the Flying Scotsman is back to Bansko, Mud Bath is to Obidim and then there is a unmarked turn off back down to Dobrinishtay village The third is The Road to nowhere straight down to Dobrinishtay.

There is a good map of these trails on www.iskartour.com but I think he is having some trouble with his site at the mo so it could be out of action for a few days. Another option is www.bansko-mtb.com

    You could try Sopot:
    http://www.shambhala-bikepark.com/

There was a race two months ago, actually three, DH, 4X and XC, and there will be another one in autumn I think.
By the videos the place looks pretty decent.

    Here are some:

  • Sopot has a great set up,I was over there a few weeks ago and it is really well geared up for biking, the Shambala crew are easy going and friendly. The Village of Karlovo 5 or 6 km's from Sopot is a lovely place to base yourself.

For paragliders Sopot is one of the best places in Europe with all the right weather conditions and a chair lift to get you up to the summit!
