I have an 18 month old daughter, and a son due on 18 Feb, and I am really interested in a trailer.

According to description it connects to the frame, but anybody know where?

  • there are a few different type of fitting! a few have a wrap around clamp for the chainstays, or they have a clamp that you thread the qr squewer through or one that bolts on!

i got mine from halfords when they had a sale, its actually very good, very eay to tow along, cost me £80 (normally 100 i think??) and is alluminum and folds up flat and fits in the boot of the car if needs be! (light to carry too), the one i have has a through the skewer mount although i have bolted it to the frame due to my rear squewer onlyu just biting and i wanst too happy about that!! 2 seater btw although i only use it as a one seater! plenty of storage spage in it too!

quick picture of it on the old bike

littlun loves it! and is only just wider than the bars! Still forget occasionally thought and cot something (like a tree root) a bit close and either end up crushing my knackers on the stem or changing direction a bit sharpish!!
one thing i need to do though is take a hammer and cold chhisel with me as the anti hosre concrete gap at the bottom of my local woods is about 1cm too narrow!!! hahaha!

I've got the Burley Cub (I think). The Burley Trailers are some of the best around. The standard Burley hitch fits inside the rear triangle (no good on full sussers) between the seat stay and chain stay. It's a bit difficult to describe. Anyway the hitch is really good once you get used to it, you don't have to dismantle anything and it keeps the centre of gravity down. You can also lay the bike on the ground whilst still connected to the trailer.

Overall I'd recommend a Burley, heavy to pull compared to having a child seat but doesn't upset the handling of the bike anywhere near as much.

Not sure whether it might interfer with discs though, got V brakes on my hardtail.
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result
  • Burley trailers are Very nice!! i think you could understandingly say that you do get what you pay for!!
but vfm cant fault the halfordss one,
does help your riding though! a couple of good trips with the trailer and then out without, Your flying hahah!
