Would I be able to get away with putting a 1-5-2.2 spesh tube in a 2.3 width tyre (conti gravity)? Or would this make it more prone to puncturing/not being able to inflate fully.

Comments

  • yes, although it may become more prone to punctures as the tube will inflate more than it should really do, therefore the tube will stretch causing the tubes walls to be thinner, making the tube more vunerable to punctures.
if you're not crashing, you're not trying.

Tis not a massive issue. In REALLY high impact riding you may notice it, and the tube will be marginally more spread out so thinner rubber to puncture, but I have noticed more than 0.1 of an inch between different manufacturers tyres anyway!
I may have run 24" tubes in my 26" hack for a bit, when I found them dirt cheap at ASDA!
