Help!!! crank problems

Ive just removed my gusset cranks off my bike to have the bike painted, and the problems I have are:
- The driveside crankarm is stuck on the shaft( going through the BB)
- The pedal is stuck on on the non-drive side
I have only just got the bike to rebuild myself, and before I had it, its been sitting in a garage for god knows how long, so Im assuming rust has set in, anyone got any ideas on how to get either of these off, apart from the obvious...(tw*ting it with a hammer being one )
thanks!

pedal are you turning it the correct way? read the info on park (it is easier to remove pedals while on the bike.
the cranks have self extracting bolts use them of a crank extractor. Again read park tools."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Try spraying some WD40 or similar on it an work the parts back an forth to try an lubricate everything...spray on loads an leave for a few hours so it can penetrate right through?
BB's are notoriously tight or hard to remove from what I've heard on forums...
Good luck.RIDE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!!

Im in the middle of the WD40 trick, and Ill probably take the driveside to the bike shop for them to use the tool. the thing is i wouldnt need to remove the driveside, but the chainring is knackered so I have to. I took it to the bike shop when the BB was still in the frame, but he said Ahh dont worry!! once we remove it all, take the bolt off holding the ring and the chainring will slide off the other side! but he lied its on the shaft of the drive side! grrr!
anywhoo, do you think heat will get the pedal off??0 -
hmm y do u need to remove the pedal? (sorry if i missed that earlier) think just keep covering it in loads of lubricants0

To get a pedal off, put the arm in a vice, then coat it in WD40 or GT85. Then, find a REALLY big spanner, 15mm. To figure out which way to turn it, imagine the arm is on the bike again. if you hold the spanner still and backpedal the bike, that TIGHTENS it, so hold the spanner still and turn it as if you wanna pedal forwards.
If its been on for a while, or whoever built the bike didnt bother with grease, it could be VERY tight!0 -
Plus Gas if the above fails. If that fails, heat. If that fails, new crank!0

i still do not see what the problem is.
you have a sliding axle so just pull the crank off.

Where does one buy Plus Gas? Halfords?
Homebase don't seem to have it.0 -
Halfords stock it. Very good for freeing siezed parts like pedals.0

NickLouse: Yes I have the axle like youve shown in your pic, but the crank is stuck on the splines, one side came off easily, but the other wont budge!
Im gonna take it to my LBS on my day off wed so they can have a go, Id rather them do it than me do it and mess it up!0 -
hit is. it will have been wrongly spaced and will be jammed on. the splines are straight 19mm and then grow to 20mm for the bearings. the cranks will not have been spaced out so they will have jammed on to the wider bit. remove the bolts and hit it. Or if the bolts have not been removed hold the axel still and undo and it will pull the crank off the axel."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Ill try that, but there are no bolts on the cranks itself, thats whats making it awkward, theyre just slotted on the axle. So Ill just try and hammer the axle through.0
