Why is it that the 'fairer sex' want us (blokes) to do the washing up and the hoovering, but aren't interested in knowing how to fix a pu****re or cleaning and lubing THEIR bikes

p.s. Just in case my other half reads this, I am only joking

As I write my wife is cleaning her bike and was surprised, but grateful, when I mended a puncture in her front wheel while she borrowed mine to ride to the swimming baths. She usually mends her own punctures and always cleans our muddy boots after we've been walking.

    I've only had her for 40 years. I think she's a keeper :)

Old cyclists never die; they just fit smaller chainrings ... and pedal faster
  • Mrs G has decided she wants to cycle to work and has realised that she will need to be competent at changing tubes, and also refitting the wheel, especially the back one. So.

We needed to change the tyres over on her road bikes, and also fit breaker strips in her MTB tyres. So she got to take off and refit 6 sets of tyres on Saturday afternoon. I think she's got the hang of it now, and knows some of the tricks like keeping the tyre edge in the centre of the rim to get a bit of slack. Her thumbs were a bit sore though.

She never usually fixes the tyres when we're out, just because I'll, or another bloke, can do it a lot quicker because we've got stronger hands and can get the tyres on and off more easily - when it's piXXing down with rain, you just want the job done!

Nice one Geoff, don't rush into anything though, it'll only cost you in the long run!
