stem finishing question

I have a Record headset; the steerer has been left a little longer than necessary to future proof my ability to lean down onto the bars! At the moment this means I have 1.5 cms of spacers above the stem; however the Record top nut with carbon washer isn't quite wide enough to cover the top edge of the carbon spacers. The top edge of these spacers are very pale, can anyone suggest a way to blacken them so they don't stand out, distracting me as I try to stay on the bike going down Titsey Hill (South Downs)?
