Hi,
Pretty new to this road cycling lark, I'm eyeing up a couple of bikes. 1 is a full Shimano 105 setup, but a 2007 model, and the other is still a full 105 setup but 2008 model.
What (if any) difference between the 2 years in terms of the kit on the bike, or will I be fine just going for the 1 that I prefer the ride of?

i didn't think 105 got any updates at all for 2008 to be honest - I can't remember reading about any.
all the big changes were made in 2006/2007 when they changed to the outboard bearing types (HollowtechII) and the smarter looking cranks - they also facelifted the brakes last year to the ones with the "aero" look at the front and the 105 logo in a kind of italic font
I wouldn't worry about it - go for the bike you prefer the ride of / look of.
what are the bikes by the way?

Cheers!
The bikes I'm looking at are a Cannondale Synapse 105 (2008), and a Trek 1400 Discovery (2007):

I'm not buying online, I'll be at my local dealer, the links above are just so you can see what I'm looking at.Rides a Cannondale Synapse 105.0 -
nice bikes - personally I'd go for the synapse - the trek frame of that sort (1000/1200/1400 has been replaced completely by the 1.2/1.5/1.7 range with taller headtubes for comfort. Those ones always look uncomfy, although I guess only you can tell if it is comfy for you or not!0

Yea, as the Trek one is the 07 model it's in stock so I can take it out for a spin (assuming they have my size... and if they don't, then it's not available so it's no longer an option!).
The Synapse is from a different local retailer, guy there was unbelievably helpful, (to the point where I will feel bad if I end up buying a bike not from him!), they don't have that one in stock but they have one with the same style frame that I could take out.
I'm ridiculously excited about getting a new bike!Rides a Cannondale Synapse 105.0 -

The other thing counting against the Trek is that the Disco team is no more... As awesome as they were, I'd always know that my bike is "out of date".Rides a Cannondale Synapse 105.0

I nearly went for a carbon trek with the Disco colours - 'twas a good bike and a real bargain but the paint scheme was really off putting.0
