A considerate driver :-D

On the last leg of my commute before the blast down the hill I was filtering down the middle of 2 lanes of stationary traffic in Crystal Palace as I needed to be in the RH lane at the end to follow the road round. As I approached a couple of wing mirrors I started to slow as it looked quite tight, even my my standards!
Just as I was about to pass a hand came out of the silver Astra's window in the LH lane and the driver pulled his mirror in :-D Made it a bit easier to pass! I was so surprised I just about managed to shout "Thanks mate!"
Just goes to show there are some decent drivers out there who actually pay attention

I've had better than that, they have actually moved their cars over to the right when I've been filtering up the insideI've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

Had a white van do that for me today some escort sized windows van, very clear the driver saw me in the cycle lane and although he already had a good road position he moved clearly over even further, was very nice to see.0 -

He probably cycles as well ?
I always tend to drive close to the central white lines when im crawling through a city to allow those that are quicker than me (Cyclist) to pass without damaging themselves or my car
Redvee .... Are you a St Helens Fan ? or does your Nic mean something completely different ?

My nick has nothing to do with rugby, just pure luck that the name is also used by St Helens. At the time of conception I was with Blueyonder as my ISP, so red/blue and V/Y. Wasn't until early last year I found out the connection myself, put my nick into google and found it pulled up St Helens websites.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -
St helen's being the volcano that decimated several miles of vegetation and one 83 year old when a pyroclastic flow blew most of the side of it to smithereens?
or am I missing something. eg brain capacity (drunk)
Anyhoo, back on topic, I still maintain that most drivers are considerate, I only ever get "shirty" when someone has been blatantly ignorant eg people pulling out without looking, and its reasonably rare even tho I tend to ride Death grip most of the timeBrought to you by:

the vast majority of the drivers I come across are considerate, give me room when passing, time till the road is clear before passing, even dipping their headlights at night on the dark quiet strecth I ride along.0

My morning commute involves turning right out of my street onto a busy main road.
Nobody in a car will let you out and some will even stop directly in front to block your passage out. Only one vehicle has ever slowed, flashed and let me out.........................a bin wagon.0 -
I meet quite a few considerate drivers and quite a few assh0les... I reckon the considerates have the majorityPurveyor of sonic doom

I chased one of the inconsiderate variety for around 2 miles last night. He came within inches of wiping out me and the guy I was riding with as we signalled to overtake a parked car. Usual story, crappy old Renalt Laguna driven too quickly and aggressively, more than likely without MOT and insurance. Enjoyed the thrill of chasing him down. Gave a load of abuse, got a load back, got stuck in traffic staring fixedly ahead with driver alongside glowering at me, regretted chasing him down and was relieved when I got to filter out of harm's way. Achieved absolutely nothing, other than exhausting myself and coming close a good shoe-ing0

that's the problem with chasing em, or at least shouting at them - at the end of the day their in the car and the law seems to go quite easy on drivers who injure other people in a vehicle!
some people are just idiots, I was out with my mate in his Mondeo ST220 once, by no means a slow car being that it had a 3L V6 engine! we overtook some guy in a clapped out g-reg peugeot estate coming down a hill in Crystal Palace (it was quite late at night and my mate was showing off!) We the=n heard a huge racket as the guy overtook us coming up the hill! He was fishtailing all over the place and then turned off down the next road! If my mate had wanted to show him up he could have easily out-accelerated him on the hill but I guess some people just don't know when to quit!
Anyhow it had crossed my mind afterwards that maybe the Astra driver was thinking more about his nice wing mirror then my safety, but either way, it still made my progress a tiny bit easier - and for that i'm grateful :-D0 -

He must be a bloody good driver to get a front wheel drive car fishtailing going up a hill ?
Redvee ... Tis a very good Nic even if it is only by chance that the Mighty St Helens use it as well

I was riding down a quite large hill in the middle of town where i live, and a car moved to the left so i could pass down the middle, it really did make me feel better about the world... Is that sad? :?0
