Hi All,

I am cycling to work at the moment - about 100 miles a week + a few errands at the weekend. My old bike is worn out. I am doing cyclescheme to replace it - £1000 to spend, will top it up by another £300 or so if need be. Basically, I would like a commuter that I can use daily to work and back in all weathers and a bike I can use for distance rides and some light racing. I can always buy 2 bikes! I was lloking at the new Bianchi Ducati (the cheap one!) as I have ducati Motorbike! I have an old Ambrosio Guiodo frame that I am going to make into a dog bike for leaving in town! Any thoughts ideas or help would be much appreciated!

Cheers

Geoff

I suspect it will depend on what you mean by 'light racing'. For all weather commute you'll need full proper mudguard clearances which implies a longer wheelbase than would be ideal for crit/track type racing perhaps. So maybe 2 bikes?

    Is there such a thing?

    Where can I sign up?
  • Just to warn you ...if you go through the standard routes (e.g. via Halfords) I don't think that you can "top up" the value of the voucher - there are issues over the ownership of the bike. However some companies may accept the voucher and top up and turn a blind eye...

Principia used to do a fantastic frame with full mudguard clearance that you could easily race on - I've got one and have. Not sure if there are any current equivalents - maybe Van Nicholas do something similar though it may be a bit pricey.

it's a hard life if you don't weaken.
