SCRAM Dual Drive

SRAM actually! Have it on a Bike Friday tandem, haven't noticed any great losses. The hub is just a 3-speed, so middle gear is direct anyway. If you need 1st to go uphill hub gears are actually most efficient with high input. 3rd will be mainly for speeding along with the wind behind you or a down gradient, so efficiency won't be an issue.Anyone seen my bearings?0

As above we also have a Bike Friday tandem with a SRAM 3x8 hub. It works well. The new SRAM 3x9 has a different control. I am not sure how it differs.

I have a Moullton T21 with the dual drive and STI shifters. The dual drive works very nicely and a good feature is you can change gear whilst stopped at traffic lights etc. The Shimano STI levers don't operate the Scram gears perfectly and some gears need a double shift. I have spent a long time trying to get it just right but the gear spacing/cable pull can't be ideally matched.
I did a ride where the outer gears became caked in mud and siezed up, but the 3 speed in the hub gear was no bother at all.
What sort of Moulton are you looking at?0 -
Thanks for the reply. The Moulton TSR 27,. i thought it better value than a 'full' Moulton, unless you know better. It will be used as a multi purpose bike, commuting, day touring, holidays and general running about.0

The TSR has a few improvements over my TS21, mostly loosing weight in the frame. I would go for the TSR 30 myself just to keep the weight to a minimum. The new AM Moultons don't have much advantage over the TSR unless you go for the new series which is getting into really serious money.
I like my Moulton and would love it if it could loose a few pounds, it weighs 32 lb!0
