had one of those mornings this morning a few drivers encroaching on the cycle lane, a few otherwise dodgy drivers, a few pavement ninjas and then the last 2 minutes from work one my toe clips decides to un bolt itself and the bolts go flying and then my pannier mounting lets go...
just seemed like a classic comedy moment as the vehicle falls apart bit by bit. I mananged to bring the bike to a safe halt and effect some roadside safety measures to make the final couple of minutes.
Nothing "dangerous" but still highly unusual.
I last gave the bike a good going over last wednesday including checking that pannier mount....

Must be something in the air...
My glasses fell off my head this morning ( sunglasses fitted with a clear lens ) as I was crossing a fairly busy crossroads! Having quickly turned round and gone back to the crossroads, I parked my bike up and could see my glasses still in the middle of the road.
So I'm stood at the side of the crossroads waiting for the lights to turn to red ( felt like a lifetime ) so I can make a dash for my glasses. Finally the lights turn to red, transit van jumps the lights and runs them over, how gutted was I...
I now have a pair of sunglasses in about 8 pieces....
Had to make the rest of the journey with tears running down my face, not sure if it was the wind or I was actually crying....

my problems were last night;
hallie (my road bike, yes, its got a name) dropped her chain twice, once into 5th, catching the chain under the bolt for the rack, only way to get the chain back out is un-bolt the bolt as its a bit long
had to walk the rest of the way home as it rubs the chain.
then en route to a friends house she dropped the chain from the front chain ring leaving me to coast to a junction, if there hadn't been a car i'd have made it to my friends house without having to stop and sort the chainMy signature was stolen by a moose
that will be all

I lost a waterbottle to a pothole down the road from Waterloo station the other day. It was dark as I was crossing and I hit the hole with enough force to knock the bottle out the cage. I pulled up as I had a terrible cough I didn't want to try and make it home without some drink!
A few more cars crossed then one van ran it over! It burst the top right open! I can't complain to much as it's only one of those Evans Tour de France one's they where giving out at various cycling events last year but I could have really done with a drink as I was coughing my guts up after some of the climbs :-P
I too also had the bolt (1 already fell off!) come off my clips the other morning, about 1 mile from my house! managed to recover the reflector part that had the screws on luckily! Took the now flapping clip part off and did the rest of the journey on 1 clip, thankfully it was my left one as I keep my right foot in all the time!
Luckily I managed to find 4 bolts that fitted my clips at my parents house, although it did mean rummaging through a rusty box of screws/nails/nuts etc!0 -
I didn't torque down one of my cranks tightly enough after a BB overhaul on the weekend. :oops:
It did stay on long enough to get me to work, at least.0
