At last I'm in a financial possition to treat my self to a pair forks for my Cove Stiffee which i had built up in about 1997 . I am trying to decide between a pair of Fox RLC100's or the Magura Durin 100 and would welcome any helpful pointers on both
Many thanks for your help on this one Fireboy javascript:emoticon('')

Doesnt the Stiffee work best at more travel than the 100mm you suggest? Unless your older model has different geo. For 100mm, I'd get a Reba. Unless you are dropping off houses, I can't see a better fork.

If you are dropping, Rockshox Argyle.

hi, i have a stiffee and i have Rock Shox Pike 454's on it and they work really well with the frame. i'd say the geometry and handling would be better with a longer travel fork than 100mm.

Maybe for a new Stifee but what forks were 1997 Stiffees designed for?

yea your probably right. only noticed after posting that its a 97 frame. have a look at merlin cycles if your thinking of getting a reba. i just ordered one off them for £229 for my inbred. thats £70 off, pretty good deal.

For a stiffee (old'n) you want something a bit more burly than reba's. Maybe argles or the marzocchi 4x.

The very nice man in the shop said that my frame would work best with either 80 mm or 100mm travel forks, he also said i should look at rockshok reba but did not point me towards any particular model , i have around £500 to spendjavascript:emoticon(':D')

Can you post a picture? Just that I doubt that a stiffee doesn't really suit reba's, it is a bit more mental than that. You want a whacking great bolt through front axle.

I imagine back then it came with a Judy or Bomber Z1/Z2 with 30mm stanchions and QR!

Thats a big budget, you must love that frame!

Personally, I would put a set of Marzocchi 4X on it - the right mixture of strength and weight.

Dependws on what you plan to do on the bike. just XC, then will be a great choice. If anything harder, then as Splasher suggests.
