I don't mean to cast aspersions  but as I sold my car a few months back I'm in the clear
Why are car drivers so stupid?
Every morning they will do whatever they can to get past, just to make sure they sit in the queue for a red light for a few more precious seconds.
By which time I've caught them up, filtered to the front...and repeat.
I fully expect to be overtaken, it's the urgency I don't understand. What do they honestly think will happen if they look further ahead than the end of their bonnet? They've just got past me and then on come the brake lights!
(Also as a motorcyclist car driver obs are a subject dear to my heart anyway!)
Just amazed how dense people can be.

i do standing traffic clutch only, ie just creep, staying near the cars infront but not too fussed, letting the odd car or two in.
no worries, its making little difference to my journey. My signature was stolen by a moose

See it happen all the time, its when they not only over take 20feet from a queue its when they do a dangerous overtake to do so as well. Putting my life at risk and not evn saving themselves a second or so.0 -
I guess we've all pondered similar questions, its just like those eejits who race to overtake just before an upcoming 'pinch point' and then have to slam the brakes on so as not to smack into the thing
As to why they do it i certainly don't know0 -
I hear ya chronyx!!
How about when you coast behind a bus which is going about 5 mph and ejit taxi driver starts abusing you for riding in front of him. Like, where the fcuk is he going to go - into the back seat of the bus? Retard.0 -
why, when they overtake, do drivers in general get as close as possible to you? Especially the women it has to be said! I know I've got a nice arse dearie, but you really don't have to clip my handlebars with your wingmirror!
Hoping that most of the muppets will be off the roads by now - one of the few benefits of a half-day at college is there's one ride which isn't in rush hour! I bet it rains in the next hour . . .
One fine day in the middle of the night, two dead men got up to fight. Back to back they faced each other, drew their swords and shot each other.0 -

Ive found panniers come with magic car repellers, helps really cut down on close overtakes. they look crap on the bike but the really do buy you a disproportionate amount of extra space from most drivers.0 -

couple years back when I was on my POC hybrid I was over taking a bus and someone decided to overtake me at the same point (yes of course there was on coming traffic, I felt my panniers being rubbed... that was a little too close for mePurveyor of sonic doom

Caught a lesser example on camera today :-

Not dangerous because I anticipated his manouvre and slowed down when I heard him gunning his engine to go past, but could easily have been messy...
He didnt save a second or gain a centimetre for his actions.
He just had to get past the cyclist of course I was past him in seconds and he never caught up again0 -

What a t0sser
I once had a work colleagure catch me in Brixton. He was tooting me and I took a while to spot him as I just put it down to some ar5ey driver, he did overtake me and wave tho!
He lives about 5 minutes ride from me, so we're both heading the same direction, towards Streatham during the rush hour.
Needless to say I caught up with him when he was sitting in a queue of traffic in Streatham and just waved as I sailed past in the bus lane! I txted him when I got in and got a reply back 25 minutes later saying he'd only just got in :-D Proof if ever needed that bikes rule :-D0 -
i find cyclicg with my jacket open, flapping about keeps the cars further out when overtaking. bit cold for that now mind.0
