I am after a fork to replace my Rock Shox Revelation 426.

I know it sounds vague but i need something that can take Dirtjumping but also be capable of XC at the same time.

I have been looking at Pikes, Marzocchi 66's and 55's as well as older similar 'zocchis' and Fox 36's. I'm open to any other suggestions.

I have 300 quid to spend.

Preferably travel adjustable down to around 120-130 or set travel around this length.

I understand that i may well be looking at second hand for this price.

So come on lads, hit me with your suggestions! :)

Cheers Jamie

    nope. 2 very different requirements.

pick one. Also what is the bike?

it really sound like you need a all mountain fork. you do not say what disc fitting you need, and also what axle type.

so in that travel range i would say either the Pike or the Revelation.

Oh but you want to change your Rev. Why?

    IS disk mounts
    20mm axel

    Kona Stuff Hard Tail

It's actually for my brother, he does DJ most of the time but needs something that isn't gonna be a big haul for a ride.

I have recommended he get 2 separate bikes but he really can't afford it.

He is looking for a stronger fork to do some DJ

    same crown.

if he mainly Jumps then the is going to have to look at a jump fork so thats 100mm (also best for that frame) and lump it on the XC rides.
(ok the stuff can take a bit of a longer fork but not muck before it feels like a Pig).

He could look at the Marz. 4X used if there are any out there.

RS pike 454 2008 from CRC 300 quid bang on, adjustable for XC and DJ, different compression and rebound adjustments. sounds perfect.

  • I got the impression pikes weren't quite strong enough for DJ?
  • pikes are pretty much rock solid unless u do anything stupid on them but check with rock shox if jumping is covered in the warrentee

If you want to jump, buy jump forks.

About the same weight as a Pike coil, 100mm travel so good for the frame and built to jump for £270
