Hey everyone. I am Gary and have joined in the forum all the way from sunny Durban in South Africa . Weather is hot and humid today, expecting highs of 32 degrees C!!
Although I am far away, my dilemnas are still the same: which mtb to choose. In my price range and with the help of some local bike shops I have nailed it down to the following 3 bikes (2 of which you don't get in the UK as far as I know?). However, you all seem to know more about MTBs than I do so I would appreciate your opinions on which one to choose! The choices are:
http://www.raleigh.co.za/bikes.php?rang ... 2008#range
http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-AU/bik ... 130/28947/
and the GT Avalanche Expert.
I am new to mountain biking but have been road cycling for a long time. I am looking for a bike that you can ride on or offroad, and by offroad I mean anywhere that isn't paved! I am not looking to spend dual susp money, but am looking for a good cost/benifit hardtail.
All the best and thanks!

I'd see if you coan test them first, get a feel for them. They all look to have decent specs - so what is best will come down to what feels best.0

Hey super. Thanks for this advice. So far I have managed to ride the Talon. Other bike shops are not too happy for me to test ride...0

Not even a quick blast around the car park to get a feel? If they cant afford ypu that, I wouldnt shop there!0

I think that they are scared I am going to steel it or otherwise no one will buy it if its used . The folk at Giant insisted that I tried the Talon... 8)0

Hey. Looking second hand, I have the chance to get this bike. Have anyone heard of the model and what do you think about the specs? Thanks!

Some nice parts on it, but they have very steep geometry. Also have no warranty!0
