Are these tyres any good for wet weather commuting?

I haven't used them for commuting but I can certainly say they've had the best puncture resistance of any of the tyres I've used (Krylions, Spesh Mondos, GP4000, GP4000S, Fortezza Tricomps).

The others have been ok puncture wise but the 23C Krylions have been bomb proof in that I've used them in the worst conditons (plenty of silt and grime covered roads) and I've not even got a tread nick in either front or rear, let alone a puncture.

In comparison I've a collection of cut to shreds Mondo Pros' and a couple of GP4000's that I'd only ever trust again on the turbo.

Puncture resistance wise the Mondo Pros were pretty good but if its grip you're after avoid those.

I've had two or three punctures with mine in the 11 months I've had them - and one just this morning on my normal commute into work (caused by a tiny shrade of glass).

There are now lots of nics and splits in them so I think they might be due for replacment soon but suffice to say - and as with any tyre - they are not foolproof.

I've been riding Krylions and their predecessors, Carbons, since 2004 in 25mm version. They're good tires, grip well in the wet, provide decent comfort on rough roads, and can last a long time-over 3000 miles if you're lucky. But I've also lost one to a huge glass cut at 400 miles so it's the roll of the dice sometimes. My present set is being held together with Superglue as the Chiltern flints have inflicted multiple cuts over the winter. A Mr Tuffy liner stopped the flats but I generally pick out 4 to 6 flints after a 50 mile ride. That's no fault of the tire as I wouldn't expect anything to do any better. As soon as they're available, I'll be getting a couple more.

Good tyres. Only 1 puncture in 2 years. Role nicely.

I have just fitted a pair - so here is hoping for more 'unplanned stop' free riding.
  • Have had a pair of the original carbons on a spare bike for years best buy in tyres ever

Only used them for first time yesterday, feel lovely and roll very well. Only time will tell.

I've been my choice for a number of years and the Carbons that preceded them. I must have got 10,000 miles from one of the original 25mm tyres - including 2 x Flanders, 2x P-Rx sportives and countless training miles inbetween on flint-strewn roads. A friend on brand new Gatorskins suffered 4 punctures in 50 miles on Sunday - I've had 1 since October!
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
