Make sure the grip and bar is free from grease, and use a fixer like strong hairspray or spray glue. Or a lock on grip!0
-
Thanks, I have been tring the glue that comes with puncture kits (it wass making a mess).
Do i have to buy grips iwth the lock on, or could i just but something to lock on the grips.0 -
You could try wiring the grips on - check google for how to do it.0
-
It might just be your hands slipping on the grip (like they are on your keyboard)

yeah lock ons are probably your best bet, but for something short term, tie cable ties at the end of the grips, this does work although it looks abit shit and is annoying sometimes.josh0

And can chew up your gloves.
Lockons are egg shaped...0 -
just jam a screwdriver in there... lift it up and spray a bunch of hairspray in under the grip.
when that sets it aint movin, until you use the same technique to remove them.Whenever I see an adult on a bicycle, I believe in the future of the human race.

I have tried but;
A screw driver will not fit under the grip,
the hairsray doesn't work,
and i don't wont to tie wire over them.
Does anyone have any other short term ideas?0 -
Have you had the grips off and cleaned them and the bar? Need a stronger fixer. Also the vucanising solution you used from the pucture kit may have damaged them.0
-
I have tries my best to clean them, I can't get all the way into the grip, but it does't seem that dirty anyway.
How can the vucanising solution damage them?
And, will super glue work?0 -
Drop them in hot water and cleaner, rinse, dry. Vulcanisisng solution works by 'melting' the rubber. I am guessing this can damage it. Superglue does work, as does paint (but again may attack the grip). It maybe that the grip has simply stretched.0

short term + long term solution - stop being so tight and spend £15 on a new pair of bleeding lock-on grips! i'm sure £15 wouldn't bankrupt you.Best quote ever (pinkbike): "i've heard that Hill pees, deffecates, vomits and masturbates before each race to keep the weight down"0

Lol, or that!0

if you're not crashing, you're not trying.0

LOL, I like the grips I have now, and i'll try my best to save them.
My thinking was that it would be quicker to fix one grip them remove one and fit on two.
If I don't fix them by Saturday ill have to break open my piggy bank and buy some lock- ons.
So, time for some more help ( ), how do you remove a grip.0 -
screwdriver underneath, spray loads of gt85 / wd40 inif you're not crashing, you're not trying.0
-
Thanks whelieking27 they look cool, but i don't do Ebay
If you can recommand any ons from an other online store like Wiggle, it will be very helpful.0 -
Coat a screwdriveer with GT85, WD40 or hairspray, slide under grip. Spray some under the grip, and move driver about, careful not to scratch the bars. It should just pull off. My guess is that there is water in there and gunk: once throughly degreased, dried, and put back on I am sure it will stay put!0

If by some chance, you have an air compressor and a small nozzle, you can slip it between the grip and bar and blow and pull the grip off at the same time. A method I used back in the day at Tim's Bikes in Seattle. It leaves the bar unmarked and no fluids to clean up. The screwdriver method, but water from a squirt bottle or Windex is good.0

i have them in brown / gold.if you're not crashing, you're not trying.0 -
Use some Isopropyl Alcohol to clean the bars and the insides of the grips(if there not new) then use hairspray to stick the grips on with, this method worked a treat for me.0

get a knife and cut the buggars off. takes two seconds, and if your not using lock ons your madi ride a hardtail0
