difference between 07/08 scott genius mc 40

Hey,
Looking to upgrade my bike to fully sussed, saw what i thought was a good deal for an 07 scott genius mc40.
When doing my research found out that the 08 version sets you back less than the deal i was lookin at!
Did you look at the spec i hear you ask..
Well yeah i did and i dont see the price drop of 400 notes significant just because of different forks/brakes.
Im not too sure if i havent done enough research or not but would really appreciate some help and maybe some advice on other bikes in my price range (up to 1500 squid).
I mostly ride xc or some local trails but try to venture out to wales when possible for a bit more fun.
