After been through 2 ISIS drive bottom brackets (this will be the third) im getting rather fed up of unreliability of them. :x Is it possible to convert Truvativ Isoflow cranks to accept external bottom brackets like Shimano Hollowtechs or Truvativ Giga X pipes? Or do i need a whole new crankset?

Cant be done, as the axle is itegrates to the chainset with the newer type. You will need to replace the lot.0

Technically, you could achieve an external bearing set-up using one of these
but I wouldn't bother. I doubt it's any better."Internet Forums - an amazing world where outright falsehoods become cyber-facts with a few witty key taps and a carefully placed emoticon."0 -

I'd have the LX for the same money!

I reckon the Deore is lighter. Not the chainset itself but the 121mm BB needed for the LX has a lot of extra steel in it compared to 113mm for the Deore!"Internet Forums - an amazing world where outright falsehoods become cyber-facts with a few witty key taps and a carefully placed emoticon."0

Not 100g though! There is about 10g in the BBs I think.0

There's 60g (measured) between the two chaninsets in the same 175mm 22/32/44 config. But I concede that there's not going to be that much of a difference between a 113mm and a 121mm BB of the same spec.
Personally, I'd go for the Deore myself but only so I could run an XT BB."Internet Forums - an amazing world where outright falsehoods become cyber-facts with a few witty key taps and a carefully placed emoticon."0 -
I was worried that it could be pricey but £35 for a new crankset seems good. How is the LX compared to the isoflow spec wise?Learn on a Hardtail or be crap forever!0

Isoflow is a heavy, budget crank, not as stiff as LX either. Chainrings last though.0

Right LX cranks for my Commencal it is then, thanks!Learn on a Hardtail or be crap forever!0

Remember you need the 121mm Bottom Bracket as well. And tools if you're doing it yourself."Internet Forums - an amazing world where outright falsehoods become cyber-facts with a few witty key taps and a carefully placed emoticon."0
