Hi, im interested in buying some new tyres for my 2007 marin b-17. I got it because i was interested in doing some fairly agressive xc but i still needed to ride to work so i opted for a hardtail over full suss. Since getting it I have found my self doing some downhill (on a hardtail yeah) and my stock tires are ok in the muddy conditions but they cant take wet rocks or roots at all. I was looking at getting the largest maxxis minions front and rear i can fit in my frame and Rockshox tora solo air 130mm fork to help me, i realise these are going to weigh a ton but i dont have 2 ride far to work so its not as much of a concern as it could be.
Anyone suggest the max size i can run? or suggest other dh types? cheers.

You don't want wide tyres when its muddy, thing tyres cut thorugh the mud to the hard base beneath where there is grip.

I'd suggest maxxis high rollers, 2.35 wide and single ply in 60a compound.
