650 to spend?

Hi,

Could I have some recommendations of which mtb to spend 650 on. My only "wants" are hydraulic disc brakes and a lock out option on the front forks.

Full sus or Hardtail?

If you want full sus for that price, have a look at http://www.paulscycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m1b0s1p0 for a good choice. I highly recommend the Giant Trance, I had a 2005 Trance 4, and it was great for the money.

I just bought a specialized rock hopper disk 08 model still waiting to get it next week, looks like an amazing bike. I got it from Evans cycles (with a bit of haggling in the shop) and got it for £539 that has avid hydraulic brakes has good components too

We got one of these last week (Rockhopper Disk) mainly for my wife.

It's a hell of a bike for the money (less than half of the price of my Stumpy)!

I loved my Rockhopper disc ('06, since stolen). It's got a cracking frame that means it has bags of upgrade potential. Most brands make a decent bike around that price though - as always try and ride or at least sit on a few of them and see what feels right.

This ones 640 but much better than most at that price. The frame is really good which you wouldnt think from such a relatively small manufacturer. Its entirely designed for the uk, so you wont be bottoming out all the time as with a speccy or a trek.
Nice set of hollowtech II's, your hydraulics you wanted, nice set of conti tyres - 1 less thing to replace (the stock ones are usually crap).
XT rear mech for near perfect shifting. Lovely. Jobs a guddun.

ive got a Rockhopper disc 07 and its a quality bike not upgraded anything yet( Still a newbie ) but i'm very happy with it.

It's a test to filter surfers out. If you can operate a scroll bar, you qualify, if not it's a Rockhopper all the way
