Hi - we use halford's for BTW at our place, and they're very keen to point out you can get "any" bike through the scheme. I'm looking at a cyclocross number with the facility to put 'guards and a rack on it. I know Planet X can supply halford's, but my LBS also has a Kinesis Crosslight that looks very good - plus Wiggle could build a crosslight to my exact spec (I'm thinking maybe a triple as I'll probably use it for touring as well).

Has anyone had any experience of using other suppliers - and can you specify who? I like to give LBSs business, but 40% off is 40% off...

Finally, has anyone managed to get a Wiggle bike through the Halford's scheme, given that Wiggle run their own?

Thanks
may the dawes be with you...

http://www.ukbikesdepot.com do the cycle to work scheme. They can do anything Halfords can dobut with much better service ,as they are a local bike shop. Youve got youre 40 pc off as it is, these guys have the vat taken off too. so its pretty much a half price bike from there (and not your fake half price shockwaves either).

Our scheme is with halfords - you can't choose which scheme to use - but halfords say they can source any bike. I'm sure any number of schemes are better than halfords but unfortunately we're stuck with 'em!

    Hi Andy,

They can source pretty much any bike for you. they even looked in to buying a bike for me from my LBS as they had a great offer on. unfortunately they couldn't do it.

Best thing to do is get a list of the bikes you like, give them a call and see if they can deliver what you want! they're good people, and as you say, 40% is 40%
  • I called them a couple of weeks ago and they were very helpfull. said they can source virtually anything
But they want the vouchers before they get the bike in and cannot give a 100% g'tee that they will get the precise model!! :!:

I think there's a few schemes, Vince, but the Halfords one means it has to come via Halfords. They have a number of recommended suppliers (one of whom is Planet X - incidentally did you go along to Doncaster to try the sizes on Planet X?) but they have said to me they can't source Kinesis bikes, even though my LBS has them - although they've now said they can get them...

I suspect I'll go with Planet X as I can at least spec up the bike I want from there.
