So that means that you only have to pay for £500 of badge on £50 of bike. (slight exageration) scotts tend to cost alot for not alot of bike. You could probaly get a similar bike for even less money.

On paper it looks very good. Light frame, Tora fork, Big S drivetrain, very good wheels... I'd have it for tthat money I liked the riding position.

I am in exactly the same boat. Just looket at the scott 10 today, impressed with the gear on it. Where did you get the £550 price?
I would prefer it to the gt avalanche (shocks are crap and less shimano gear on) or the rockhopper in this price bracket.
Let me know of other bikes in this price bracket worth looking at.

Shocks aint too bad... if you can stretch to the hopper though, I am sure you wont regret it.
