Any advice would be appreciated.

Park tools everyone I know who has a work stand uses one.

If you have one, a Turbo Trainer is a useful alternative to a full-on stand.0

Works great for me, and even has a small parts/tools tray.

I've just gor one of these from Wiggle http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ProductDetail.aspx?Cat=cycle&ProdID=5360009217&N=LifeLine%20Spin%20Doctor%20Deluxe%20Workstand
Very impressed so far. Sturdy and well made. And at £54 seems quite a bargain0 -
The Park one looks the best deal to me, Park tools generally have a very good reputation and I know alot of bikeshops tend to use their workstands so they must be up to standard.
To be honest, I think my WrenchForce one looks alot more sturdy than the Park stand but I'm sure both would be good.
Have had no probs at all with my workstand since I bought it about 7yrs ago.Dave S0 -

Halfords do one, by Minoura, for a penny under 80quid. Its portable, so quite lightweight and slightly unsteady, but if you weight the base its ok.0
