Black or White Saddles?

I am tempted by the Specialized Toupe Gel saddle after trying it out and getting sized up in my LBS. The problem is it comes in black and white and I am not sure what to go for. The white whould match the frame of the bike it's for very well (red&white) but I am not sure of the practicality of having a white saddle that will get used in all weather conditions.
Anyone out there own the same or similar white saddle and have any comments about how the age?
Cheers,

Had the toupe gel in white and white bar tape ( wrapped 5 times!! ). I've gone back to all black. The saddles do get a little dirty and worn and make the bike look shabby but no where near as bad as white tape. I've decided that white is very impractical, especially when it pi55es down and you have to fix a couple of punctures then grab anything white on your bike
It may suit you if you only ride in sunshine and levitate from the bike at the same time. My toupe had all the white rubbed away on the contact points over time. It all depends on how white you want it to stay0 -
kind of agree with above - I have the toupe white saddle - the saddle itself stays pretty clean and when it is dirty it tends to clean up with minimum fuss.
it's the fact that you NEED to have white bar tape with it and it doesn't stay as clean.
that said - I'd still say go get it as it looks great - just budget to change your tape once or twice a year!0 -
I have a white bike with a white toupe and white bar tape - looks great. But, you need to clean the tape pretty frequently0

Oh god, what have I done, I was bored this weekend and fitted white tape to my lower bars..... I'm starting to regret it already....
Now where did I put the hand wash.......0 -
I invested in a white Toupe Gel saddle near the end of last year. Saddle has stayed remarkably clean despite being upturned on a pavement and having been out in some pretty poor conditions.
Given the time of year though I didn't change the bar tape knowing what was coming weather wise but I plan to put white on for the summer, even if by then the Allez is my second bike.
I certainly plan on having white tape and saddle on my new bike.
Hopefully a Wilier Izoard with white tape, saddle and my white DT1850s. Should look 8).
Probably end up taking cover in bus shelters when it starts to rain though!0 -
White frame - Dilemma on whether to go for black bar tape/black toupe, or both in white - Glad I went for black - it matches the boots and the rims - white would have got grubby/shabby too fast.
Part of me felt it was like wearing white socks - something else I don't like doing!
Shame my fitness/riding is not as good as my apparel!0 -
white. its just got to be white.
make sure you've got your support team handy to call to fix anything so you don't need to get your mitts grubby though.0 -
I have the white Toupe. Go for it. It looks lovely and is not hard to keep clean.0

Don't forget the white ones are lighter too.0

Fizik bar tape is the answer to your problems. It resists dirt very well. it stays white. not very padded but you get used to that and you could always double wrap.0

Your Lower bars ? How many have you got ?
I'd go with black cos I'm a no nonsense kinda guy. Although tape will clean up nicely with a soft nail brush, some soap and some elbow grease - dont brush against the wrap tho !0
