Hi all I`me new to the forum I have been cycling now for 6months on a Mountain bike. I am now ready to purchase my first Road bike / Tourer My budget is £550-00. I have looked at and like the Specialized Allez Triple 24 speed 2008 I wish to do approx 120 miles a week split up between 3 rides or so However I still quite like the idea of a Light Tourer I have looked at the Ridgeback Voyage/Horizon and Dawes that fits my budget . I will not be racing but would like to go at a reasonable speed I am currently averaging 12-14 mph. on my Knobbly mtb.over20-30 miles..... Please advise. Thanks CYCLOPS1

I use a road bike when im commuting. The only people who use hybrids seem to be either the older generation or people who ride more on the pavements than the road.

Much better than the allez is this-

Both have good alley frames and carbon forks
Genesis has better rear derailleur (105 as opposed to tiagra)
Genesis has better cranks (hollowtech II tiagras as opposed to soras)
Genesis has better brakes (tiagra as opposed to unbranded)
    Both have carbon seatposts
Genesis has better wheels (RS10 wheelset as opposed to alex rims on own brand hubs)
Think I've made a point there.

For a bit more theres the day 02-

Bit more carbon flying about on it and a bit more hybrid type (but not much) than your proper road.
    Hope that helps!
