No showers?

Hi everyone,
how many of you don't have the opportunity of showering when you get to work after a commute?
If you don't shower, what do you do to keep fresh as a daisy? are these wash-wipe things any good?
I ask as my job does not have a shower facility and, although i don't think i stink, you never can be too careful! especially with summer coming.

Baby wipes are good - Tesco own are rubbish, morrisons own are good so are Johnsons etc.
I get changed and cleaned up in my own office, so have my deo, wipes and stuff in the office. No showers. If you don't have an office, best places are usually a disabled toilet - you'll have room to get changed. Not the nicest of places having to get changed in a cubicle, but I've done it in the past.
Just carry a handful of the wipes with you and maybe a hand towel.0 -

Yep same here. Shower before I leave, towel down when I arrive and then a can of instant shower.0 -
Wet flannel in a sealed plastic bag, can of deodorant, change of tshirt when I ride to college. Wash my face and torso with the flannel.0

We have a shower but you can never guarantee the water will be warm so I don't ever bother with that. Instead I use a wet flannel and deodorant before changing.
I also wash my face really thoroughly in the sink at work or I get spotty (must be a combination of oily skin and all the crap that gets on my face going through London)
When I started this I told my colleague that sits next to me to tell me if I smell and she said very firmly that she would (she's blunt like that)!0 -
Well ... what did she say ? do you smell? e0
-
Well she made me that promise in May 2007 and she hasn't said anything to me yet! :roll:0

No showers where I work, but the local leisure centre is two minutes away. Officially they charge £1.50 for a shower, but you don't often pay it in practice. There's probably one nearer you than you think -- or at least a gym that you might be able to strike a deal with.0

i don't bother, the gf says i don't smell even when i've been hammering it
its not that greater ride into uni, i start out with my body temp quite low (t shirt and jacket this morning but was colder than usual) keeps my body temp lower than when it would start swetting
might have to change this tactic as it warms up - i don't sweat much tho.My signature was stolen by a moose

I work in a bank Monday - Friday, and there are showers for some... But not people on our floor, and if there were i still wouldn't get to use them, they'd be for the big wigs of the organization.
I was actually really surprised that we didn't have showers, i'd love a good cold shower after the ride in, especially as i really don't enjoy the hassle of bringing a change of clothes in with me.
That being said, i think its about time i invest in a nice skin tight affair...0 -
There was a cloakroom and washbasins in the gents at work. I used to leave my gear in there and bring in a change of clothes each week. Just used to have a strip down wash each morning and change of clothes after my 13.5 mile ride.
I got laughed at when I first started but gradually with runners and other cyclists the cloak room got fuller over the years. We were an engineering design department so we weren't meeting the public. Most people we met were trying to sell us stuff so they couldn't be rude
Did it like that for years and years with no problems at all - except when I got in on snowy morning and some of my staff didn't make it their tin boxes, then they were embarrassed.
OAP now.
GeoffOld cyclists never die; they just fit smaller chainrings ... and pedal faster0 -
Have used deo wipes in the higher temperatures but usually a wipe with a hand towel and a liberal spray of deodrant is all thats needed. No showers available. Sometimes get changed in the disabled loo as its very roomy and is equiped with all sorts of handles that enable various items of clothing to be hung on as I change in/out of riding/work clothes.0

Stay Smelly.
Eventually enough of your co-workers will complain that they will either build a shower cubicle for staff or ban you from using your bike to travel into work (in which case you threaten to sue them for constructive dismissal and they provide shower facilities)

No showers at college and only a tiny locker to keep stuff in. Barely big enough for all my books let alone clothes! Have spare t-shirt and undies/socks in plastic bag in my rucksack but no room for other clothes. Anti-perspirant before I set out and a good wicking base layer keep me going! Not had any complaints yet!
One fine day in the middle of the night, two dead men got up to fight. Back to back they faced each other, drew their swords and shot each other.0
