As my cable is routed from above my mech am i right in saying it is top pull?? Need to replace it..

Yes, though most mechs now are 'dual pull', meaning you can route the cable into it either way. There is another aspect though - band clamp position (ie top swing or bottom swing) - be easier to google it than me explain lol!0

thanks.. so as i use to have it mouonted to a plate attached to the bb do i need top swing?? seems to be what sheldon brown says0

Ah, I see, you use a E type bottom bracket mounted mech. There may be a reason for this, ie no place to mount it else where, or it intereferes with something. Looking at your Mullet, Top Swing would be better.0
