Chasps, I'm asking again as I must have dumbfounded everyone last time, I've fitted a 1" dura ace threaded headset to my old beloved that I can't part with. (98 Merida)
Admittidly the headset is light as a feather and written on the box is the word ¨Track¨.
Are these headsets just for smooth velodrome type racing or will they handle the rough and tumble of regular road usage for fair length of time?????????
Thanks

The track one probably is not sealed as well as the road one if at all. If you have full mudguards and service it regularly it should be OK. If no guards then don't even think about it.

The bearings themselves are fully sealed units and there is an O ring in the the threaded section so it looks fairly weather tight, more so than the FSA I installed on my MTB ,its mainly the aluminium ring that slides onto the steerer tube under the lower bearing I was worried about, but I cant imagine shimano making a high end product that would fail ...touch wood touch wood.
    Thanks
