OK so weve recently seen reviews of a company that may not offer the best online purchasing exerience, so can anyone here advise me of an online dealer, or event shop based in SE England (give or take) that has a good range of bikes, customer friendly service and decent prices ?

Thanks Scratch :?:

ok well online its usually chain reaction cycles, wiggle or merlin cycles, there'll be several other replies saying those :) . for local bike shops in the SE can't really recommend any myself i'm afraid

Does it matter where an on-line retailer is based? Anyway if I wanted to set up a low-overhead online business I wouldn't choose the South East of England as the cheapest place to set up shop, I'd choose somewhere like.....Northern Ireland perhaps.

i can vouch for pedal on and particularly aw cycles reading, both also have online store so i'm sure after a phone call they'd be able to help you out, aw cycles in particular have been relly good since buying my bike from them

I dont use anyone but Wiggle, their service is second to none. I have ordered things in the afternoon and recieved them the next morning.

They did me proud while I was MTB'in in Cyprus for 6 months.

If you want a cheap bike, Paul's Cycles are old stock specialists and consistenly have a lot of heavily discounted bikes from the previous year.

It's difficult to get current year bikes cheaper than their RRP - so if you're looking for a new bike you might be just as well to go to a shop and have a barter, maybe pick up some free accessories.

If you're more specific about where in SE England you are, I'm sure people can recommend you a good LBS or three.
  • I bought my bike 2 years ago from Evans cycles online and the cash was never debited from my account. Maybe it was just a one off but you never know. I know where I'll be ordering my next bike ;)

Second for Merlin and Pauls. Just seen another thread with Pauls selling gt idrives for £399!

CRC and Merlin are my 2 usual spots but i have to mention Bikedock also based in Ireland, their prices are competitive with the others and the service is first rate.
  • Depending on what you're after, I'd say these guys- http://www.18bikes.co.uk. There's not a lot in stock on the website, but e-mail them for what you're after and they'll try their best to sort it.

Often cheaper than CRC for me, and it's nice be in touch with the lovely guys who run it. It makes it all a bit more "personal", and their customer service is fantastic.
