Lake Shoes

I am planning on getting my first pair of SPD cycling shoes this month, and I was wondering what you thought of the Lake shoes.
I've found a couple of pairs on JE James cycles which have caught my eye (and wallet)
MX 101
http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/id31977.html
or MX 90 (my prefered choice in black and red)
http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/id36823.html
My main concern is how much wind they let in.
I don't want to buy them only to find my feet freezing after the first use (although we're not far from warmer weather now ).
If anyone has these or other Lake shoes your opinion is very much appreciated.
I would like to go to shop to try them on, but very few shops stock size 12 (47/48 ) and they won't order them in just for me to try.
Thank you

Weeeelllllll, I have a pair of Lake shoes....... I think they are really rather good.
But they are these: http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/id36811.html and thats prob not a great deal of use to you!0 -
I've got a pair of mx101's I got free through work - I don't like them at all. I also have a pair of specialised spd shoes, I much prefer these, they have a lace up system, then a outer cover with velcro fastening on them. I find the 101's more difficult to get the lace tension right, ie not tight enough & my feet move in them, too tight and they are uncomfortable.0

i have 3 pairs of lake shoes
the 101s i use for mtb i i also have the daddy winter boots very warm and toasty
and i cant rember what my others are..
the 101s will give you cold feet when its frosty or cold wind as they have mesh around the front of the shoe they are a summer shoe you could use over shoes with them
i use endura mt 500 over shoes with mine but when its really cold still get numb feet..
i also have a pair of diadorra chille extreme to commute in these are ment to be a winter shoe but due to thier tight fit restricting circulation they make my feet suffer when it icy cold...www.bearbackbiking.com

Thanks for the info guys. I think I'll take a punt on the MX90. I can always send them back I suppose.
Are Lake a decent brand in general?0 -
they sponser the santacruz sindicate team..
so they cant be that bad..
like i daid they are a summer shoe and have mesh vents so be aware of this your feet will get cold if its cold even with over shoes on.www.bearbackbiking.com

Got the "Lake MX 81 Shoe 06" last year. Fancied getting a spare pair, so on the strength of those got some "Lake CX 101 Road Shoe 06" (both from JEJ)
In retrospect I actually prefer the former, easier when off the bike. I'd definitely agree with their warning about sizing - I bought the third pair I tried on!0
