Biking through the USA

I'm a Indy Film maker and I am going to bike through the USA filming where I go and the people I meet... I am wondering if there is anyone out there who has done this and if they can help me with any advice as far as routes are concerned, I will be starting from the east coast from up north and start working my way south as winter approaches but at the same time working my way west...This may take me a few years, so any advice would be very grateful and appreciated...

You'll probably get a better response in the "Touring" section I think. This part of the hydra that is BikeRadar is mainly UK and European events only.
