Cross bike for winter commuting/touring?
Looking for a winter audax/tourer but have seen a specialized cross type bike and also a Bianchi cross bike that have low gearing and will take mudguards.

Will a specific audax type bike be miles quicker than this type of thing? Anyone use a cross bike as a tourer/commuter? Just thinking it'd be a good option for the odd gentle off road bit as well.

2.The ridgeback horizon.6061 aluminium, if you prefer that kind of frame and again sora throughout. I know for a fact if you asked these guys to alter the ratios they would do free of charge (If not ill prod them in the right direction for you).

3. If you dont mind waiting a month or two, as theyre not in the uk as yet, theres the new ridgeback panorama. Reynold 725 tubing and an xt rear derailleur (which will definately make a difference,I ride with one on my mtb), Canti brakes for lighter weight and a set of octalink cranks.
