Hi guys,

New to compag, but i could of sworn somewhere that left compag shifters are not different for doubles/compacts or tripples, something to do with them not being indexed?

Thanks

The L/H Ergopower lever works with double or triple set-ups. It is indexed, but on a finer ratchet allowing you to trim the front mech position slightly to suit the chain line - this stops the chain rubbing depending on which rear sprocket you've selected relative to the front ring in use.

  • What DavidBelcher says is definately correct for most campag left hand shifters. However I have a feeling that they have gone away from this action on some of the more recent levers, maybe only since 2007. So be careful if buying some.
I am sure someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly.

There is less trim than there used to be with the old shifters, but you still get a couple of clicks to play with.

Since 2006. all models below Chorus have a simpler, index system called QS, whereas Record and Chorus still retain the finer ratchet system of the older design.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Half right - QS is something Chorus and Record have too, and is supposed to make the shift quicker. What you're thinking of is called Escape.

The Quick Shift levers have QS written on the front of them.

The one you have picturede is a pre 2000 Mirage which has lots of micro clicks so works double or triple with any front changer you like. i.e it isn't really an indexed mech at all.

I use old Veloce for just that reason.
