Ritchey WCS or Thomson?

i've got a bit of the upgrade itch so i'm looking at swapping my rather porky 330gram fsa seatpost for something a little lighter for my 9stone rear. i prefer the look of the thomson but i'd buy the 410mm as i doubt 330mm would leave alot to play with so i'm guessing 260grams for the 27.2 410 size. with the ritchey wcs v2 2007 at 235grams for 27.2 350 that seems the better buy and cheaper too. so should i go for the ritchey or the shiny thomson? btw i don't want carbon.
err whoops wrong forum sorry, should be in the buying forum doh.

Thomson, absolutely love them, I found the post, when quite extended very springy and forgiving. Which i think helps with the durability.0

well that's that ordered, thomson elite inline 410 27.2 on it's way with a lighter fsa bar too, xc-190 7075. could'nt really bring myself to get the stem as my current one is light and working just fine and a good size. i got in the wiggle cue for the charge spoon saddle though as my bel air creaks really bad.0

Look at SMICA and Control Tech posts too. Much cheaper, built just as well. It is hard to quantify 'performance' of a seatpost - if it holdds the saddle and doesnt break, its job well done! And on that score, Thomson are no better than any other.0

Other than i didn't bend a thomson, but did bend the one before.
However it did break a saddle... The cro-mo rails gave up before the alloy post, lol.0 -
Very true SS - but I love the Thomson kit for quality of production, finish (not a better looking post out there IMH but you're right - pricey.
I recently purchased a EA70 from CRC, still expensive but about £15 cheaper than the Thomson (plus it matched my bars!)
I was quite surprised at the quality of it - a serious contender for the Thomson crown perhaps?
SMICA and Controltech always get very positive reviews but have never used them.0 -
I recently bought a Thomson post to replace my Eaton EA50.240G for a 30.9 x 367mm,and much better finish, than the Easton I had before, which lslipped and looked tatty very quickly, with the anodising, wearing, from where the Crudcatcher fitted.
I was lucky enough to buy mine from a LBS for £35,as £60-70 is a bit steep for a post.
Very pleaed with it though, and it does look nice!2006 Giant XTC
